Bonoris Castle of Montichiari
The Bonoris Castle has dominated Montichiari since the 19th century . Its construction began in 1891 at the behest of Gaetano Bonoris and ended in 1905. The Count strongly wanted his home to resemble a medieval fortress and to rise it above the remains of the ancient fortress on Mount San Pancrazio.
For this reason, for the construction of the building, the inspiration was drawn from the Borgo di Valentino in Turin and from the Fenis Castle in Valle D'Aosta. The dwelling was thus built with particular attention to the defensive details of a castle: machicolations, gate valves, laces, ditches and drawbridges.
Inside the walls it is possible to admire the riches of the Count, the beauty of the frescoes made by Giuseppe Rollini and the furnishings of the time made by Turin furniture makers.
