Programme

Day 1 – Check in

Your Tour Leader will meet you at Palazzo Novello for a welcome cocktail.
During the evening you will be able to taste the local specialties in a typical restaurant.

 

Day2 – Brescia – Abbey of Rodengo Saiano – Visit to wine farm

In the morning we will visit Brescia, with its roman ruins and Santa Giulia – the museum of the city – recognised World Heritage Site by Unesco in 2011.

During the afternoon we will be in Franciacorta, where we’ll visit the Abbazia Olivetana di San Nicola in Rodengo Saiano, the most important monastic site of the area, founded on the XI century by Cluniac Monks.  In the refectory we will also be able to admire some frescoes by the great local painter Romanino.
Finally we will relax in a wine farm, where we will have the chance to taste some of the most renowned wines of Franciacorta, alongside food from this area rich with traditions.

 

Day 3 – Verona

The day is dedicated to the visit of Verona: one of the architectural and artistic gems of the north of Italy. We will see the setting of Romeo and Juliet’s tragedy and the monuments of the period in which the city was ruled by the Signoria degli Scala. In Piazza Brà – at the very heart of Verona – we will also be able to admire one of the best preserved amphitheatres in Europe: the Arena.

 

Day 4 – Garda hills by bike

Today we will ride our bikes and explore Valtenesi, in the South-West of Lake Garda. The landscape of this area is simply marvellous! We will pass through fields and vineyards, to finally reach typical villages of historical and artistic value and from time to time we will stop to admire the unparalleled view of the lake.

 

Day 5 – Milan

We will dedicate the entire day to Milan, with its Duomo, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele and the Sforza Castle. We will stroll through the city centre, admiring the windows of the most prestigious fashion houses, to finally taste the specialties in Cova, one of the most famous pastry shop in Italy.

 

Day 6 – Sirmione

We will reach Sirmione, the pearl of Lake Garda, where we will admire the Roman villa known as Grotte di Catullo placed on the edge the peninsula, and we will be able to enjoy its unforgettable views. At the entrance of Sirmione we will also find the Scala Castle, one of the most famous and best preserved castles in Italy, completely surrounded by the lake.
In the afternoon we will visit a wine farm in Lugana, to taste some of the best wines of this area famous for its high-quality production, and we will complement the tasting with typical products of Lake Garda.

 

Day 7 – Mantova
During the final day of our tour we will be in Mantova, to visit Palazzo Ducale (The Duke’s Palace) with its immense frescoed halls, marvellous galleries and timeless masterpieces. We will also admire the splendid architecture of Palazzo Te, one of the most representative palaces of Italian Mannerism, with the exceptional frescoes by Giulio Romano.

During our goodbye dinner in Montichiari, we will taste typical local products, such as the famous Pumpkin Tortelli, and the unmissable braised and roasted meats accompanied by the ever-present polenta
